Admission |
Admission is open to all students from all nationalities who fulfill
our admission criteria. At the Early Childhood level (Pre-Nursery to
Kindergarten) children are screened to determine developmental stages
in respect of:
1. Overall Knowledge
2. Language Development
3. Motor Skills
4. Social-Emotional Realms
The performance in these areas should be those expected for the chronological
age of the child. Special emphasis is given to language development.
At the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten level, pre-academic concepts
and skills in the areas of reading and mathematics are screened as well.
At the Elementary level (Grades 1-5) students are assessed in the following
areas and are expected to meet the norm in line with the child's chronological
and developmental age:
1. Reading
2. Reading Comprehension
3. Writing
4. Math Application
At the Middle School levels (Grades 6-7), children are assessed in
the areas of:
1. English Language Skills by standardized placement test
2. Math Concepts and Application
Additionally, for Middle School, student is interviewed by the Academic
Manager or the Assistant Academic manager.
Admission begins with the completion of an application form which may
be obtained by:
• Applying at the school in person
• Requesting a form be e-mailed, mailed, or faxed
Upon completion and submission, all applications will be screened for
health, discipline, and academic concerns prior to approval. Approved
applications shall be accepted within a prescribed time period and the
students are called for an interview and/or a written test. Special
care is given to student’s English language proficiency and discipline
records. All applications received within the time frame will be treated
equally, fairly and without prejudice.
If the student shows weakness in English language, he/she is normally
admitted with the provision that the student will attend ESL classes
until he/she is up to the required standard. If the language proficiency
is too low, he is denied admission and is asked to attend the English
Immersion Program which comprises extensive English lessons until the
student comes to the ESL level. The student is given 1 year to attain
this level. If they then meet the ESL level, they are sent to the mainstream
class with extra ESL lessons
